2024 Providence Open, hosted by the Pawtucket and Providence Figure Skating Club, is a National Qualifying Series (NQS) competition.

The NQS is a series of competitions hosted individually by member clubs nationwide, in which athletes enter and earn a score. They will earn a placement in the individual competition they enter, an overall national ranking in their level, and a regional and sectional ranking. For the 2024-25 skating season, twenty-two (22) competitions have been designated as National Qualifying Series in Singles, Pairs, and Ice Dance – Juvenile through Senior– from mid-July to early October. 2024 Providence Open will be held from August 21-25, 2024.

Suplemental Information for the 2024 Providence Open

The competition will include the following:

Singles Events and Fees*

  • Juvenile Girls and Boys- $225
  • Intermediate Women and Men- $300
  • Novice Women and Men- $300
  • Junior Women and Men- $300
  • Senior Women and Men- $300

*Each skater’s entry fee includes a video download of each NQS segment and onebadmission credential for a family member. Admission will be charged for other spectators at the door at a cost of $15 per adult and $8 for children under the age of twelve and seniors (60 and over). There will be no charge for children under the age of three. Admission must be paid in cash.

ENTRIES:

Entries will only be accepted online via EMS at USFSA Online. Registration will be available starting on June 12, 2024,at noon and closes at 11:59 PM on July 8, 2024. Late entries will be accepted until August 1, 2024, only if there is sufficient time in the schedule and will incur a late fee of $75.

Skaters wishing to register for the competition will need their U.S. Figure Skating member number and password. All EMS registration fees are paid by credit card only and include a non-refundable processing fee of 2.9% + $.30 which is paid by the skater.

PRACTICE ICE

A maximum of two practice ice credits will be available for purchase during registration at a cost of $30.00 for 20 minutes and can be purchased online through EMS prior to the competition deadline. On the day of the competition, any unsold ice will be available for $35.00 for 20 minutes.

MUSIC AND PLANNED PROGRAM CONTENT (PPC):

The deadline for uploading Music and the PPC is August 7, 2024, at 11:59 PM. A late fee of $25.00 will be assessed for each component that is uploaded after the deadline.

Contested credit card charges will be assessed a $25.00 fee. Payment of these fees will be required before the skater is allowed to participate in practice ice or events.

REFUND POLICY

Entry fees will not be refunded after July 8, 2024 unless no competition exists or the event is canceled. The online processing fees are not refundable. There will be no refunds for medical withdrawals.

SCHEDULE

Competitors may be scheduled on any day or time for the announced dates of the competition. The competition and practice ice schedule will be available via EMS as soon as possible after the close of entries. All participants will be notified via email once available. The schedule will also be posted at ppfsc.org once it is available.

FACILITIES

The competition will be held at Schneider Arena on the campus of Providence College, 331 Huxley Avenue, Providence RI 02908. The size of the rink is 85 x 200 feet.

The snack bar at the rink will not be open. (This is subject to change.) Please check our website for updates as we get closer to the competition date.

PARKING INFORMATION

Schneider Arena is located at the corner of Admiral Street and Huxley Avenue. Street parking is sometimes available on Huxley Avenue, but that is not guaranteed. For another parking option, drive on Huxley Avenue past Schneider Arena until you reach the security gate. Tell the guard that you are going to Schneider Arena. You will be directed to the parking garage, which is close to the Schneider entrance.

Regardless of where you park your car, you should proceed to the entrance for Schneider Arena that is near the parking garage. This is the location for skater check-in and the spectator entrance to the ice.

IMPORTANT! If using GPS, do NOT use the main address for Providence College; you will end up on the opposite side of the campus. Use the address of Schneider Arena, 331 Huxley Avenue, Providence, RI.

There is no charge for parking in the garage.

REGISTRATION

Registration will begin one hour before the first event and run through the last event of the day. The registration table will be located in the main lobby of Schneider Arena. Please register promptly on arrival.

LOCKER ROOMS AND CHANGING AREAS

There will be NO dressing rooms available for this competition. Skaters should arrive at Schneider Arena dressed to compete. An area with chairs will be provided for competitors to put on their skates.

PHOTO/VIDEO

There will be still photography, video, and live streaming available through Cinematic Images Photography. They will be set up in the main lobby of Schneider Arena. If you have questions, contact their website at cinematicimages.com All skaters will receive a video of each event in which they skate.

AWARDS

Medals will be presented for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishers in each flight.

To receive the schedule for the competition as well as any news on the competition, refer to ppfsc.org. It is the responsibility of each competitor, parent, and coach to check the website frequently for any schedule changes and/or additional information. Skaters are requested to arrive 1 hour prior to the scheduled time of their event. A tentative schedule of events will be posted prior to the competition.
